Experience Nature First Hand: Trekking
Any veteran adventurer will tell you that there is only one way to truly get the feel of a country and experience it first hand, and that is to trek through it. Driving and riding through forests, valleys and mountains may mean that you get to your chosen destination more quickly but you miss so much along the way. An adventure is about the excitement of making new discoveries and the exhilaration of challenging yourself. Trekking fulfils both needs and opens you up to new possibilities.
Trekking through biodiverse rainforests and up mountains gives you the freedom to fully explore the natural beauty each Central American country has to offer. One perfect example is the Nicaraguan Mombacho National Reserve that hosts 750 fauna, 50 mammal, 175 bird and 30 reptile species alone. Imagine how many species of flora, fauna and creatures make the rest of the area their habitat! It blows your mind to think about it!
Trekking is not only for the nature lovers out there. Hiking up the Santa Ana volcano in El Salvador will push you to your limits and test you as much as any other activity. The summit is 2,365m above sea level. If that still isn't intense enough for you, add the fact that it is still an active volcano. Inject a little danger into your actions and you've got yourself an escapade and a half!
The Mayan Highlands, the active and dormant volcanoes, the lush jungle and stunning rainforest, the gaping caves, the gorgeous beaches… the list goes on, but all need to be thoroughly explored. To become acquainted with the area and hiking or trekking is the only way to fully accomplish that!
Live Central America and take in with every breath! Trekking is the key to any exploit as it opens your mind to the country. Every new discovery gives you that little bit more knowledge and independence. After all, isn't that what adventuring is all about?
