The Great Blue Hole in Belize is definitely a unique experience. 2 hours from Caye Caulker in the middle of Lighthouse Reef, is a gigantic ¼ mile wide, 485 feet deep sinkhole that is surrounded on all sides by coral reef. The reef itself is amazing and an occurrence you'll never forget. With its bizarre and weird stalactites and unique limestone formations that invite you to swim right through them! Colourful Elkhorn coral, undisturbed patches of black coral, turtles, barracuda, Hammerhead and Caribbean reef sharks all add to the ecstasy and are crystal clear with 100ft visibility.

If that doesn't inspire you to a little scuba dive then Malpedo in Colombia just might. Located 300 miles off the coast of Buenaventura, the island looks like a land to be conquered in itself. Dark and ominous, any adventurer will relish the though of spending a night camping on the beach followed by a day of diving in some of the most dangerous waters known to man! The island may be simply dazzling, but not nearly as much as watching a school of hammerhead sharks swim by you - almost close enough to touch! The threat of having 200 plus sharks swim right by you is enough to get even the hardiest of daredevils a 'rush'!
A good dive is worth every penny. PADI scuba dive centres are located in every country giving you the opportunity to organize your trip at a day or so notice. Just follow your heart and do as you please, but make sure you explore the sea life if you want to completely experience Central America!
